Daughters: Live Review

I have been waiting and waiting to see Daughters. I had heard they were working on something new last fall and was so excited when the new record came out. It’s awesome, totally Daughters but also really unique in it’s own way.

This night (or tour?) they were joined by two terrible openers. I honestly try to not call any music or band terrible, but this was just two sets back to back of unlistenable music.

When Daughters came out the crowd was really ready for something that was noisy and weird but also strangely melodic and that’s what they got. I was so excited that they played two of the longest and best songs from their new album, Ocean Song and Satan In The Wait. Unlike some groups that are trying to sustain a 6+ minute song (or three), this never felt old.

They played a few songs from Hell Songs and my favorites from their Self Titled record as well. It was a really great set, with plenty of energy. The keyboardist really helped fill in the places I thought they might just not replicate live.

Excellent energy and sound all night! I can’t wait to see them again!
