984: Sarah Vaughan – Sarah Vaughan at Mister Kelly’s (1958)

I bet Sarah Vaughan would be a lot of fun to hang out with. This recording is a compilation from tracks recordinded during a week long set at Mister Kelly’s, a hotspot in Chicago. Tracks included her scatting and even stopping singing early and then ad-libbing a bit with some quick witted commentary. It’s a jazz band with a thicc singer (at least she sounds it) with a lot of “ba ba ba doo ba baa’s.”

Bottom Line: If I wanted to showcase Jazz with a someone scatting over it, this would be it.
