982: Ray Charles – The Genius of Ray Charles (1959)

This album is great. It starts off with a bang and doesn’t let up for much of it. The instrumentation is really great, Ray can obviously play and his voice is emotional, fun and raw. I guess by this album he had dabbled and succeded in several different genres but he mostly sticks to what was probably the most raucous version of rock at the time here.

Bottom Line: I ended up really liking several songs from this album and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of throwing it back.
