983: Ella Fitzgerald – Sings the Gershwin Song Book (1959)

Her voice is great but what really makes the album special are the songs. These are all songs from Broadway musicals (I assume) and have lots of fun lyrics with very descriptive and interesting word play. She is backed by what sounds like a jazz band orchestra. It’s some great background music but if you really listen to the lyrics it becomes even more enjoyable.

Bottom Line: There are a lot of songs here and I don’t know if anyone needs them all, but a handful are fantastic!
