Music Lost to COVID-19: Dave Greenfield of The Stranglers

Dave Greenfield was a masterful keyboardist in a semi-decent punk/new wave group from the mid-70s forward. The Stranglers are best remembered for their ode to heroin “Golden Brown” which is cemented in our memories because of Dave’s incredible writing and performance on the keyboard.

The rest of The Stranglers catalog failed to recreate the magic found on Golden Brown but they still put in the miles and hours and were even planning a tour this year which was obviously postponed due to the pandemic.

All of the best parts of The Stranglers songs were written and performed by Dave Greenfield who died this week after contracting COVID-19 while in the hospital being treated for a heart condition.
